Over time, their behaviors become part of their social repertoire and become difficult to change.

Some victims may not have the appropriate social skills necessary to develop friendships; therefore, this needs to be taught. Some children may have special educational needs that require more specific interventions for this skill. And others may lack the social perceptual skills (that is, understand social situations) necessary to develop and maintain social relationships. These concerns need to be addressed or else your child will fail and further reinforce his feelings of incompetence. Once the above issues are addressed, there are a number of things parents can do to help their child develop friendships.
