The objective of the second one Symposium on Empirical Foundations of Informa tion and software program technology (EFISS) was once, in essence, just like that of the 1st Symposium during this sequence, i. e. to discover topics and strategies of sci entific inquiry that are of basic and customary curiosity to details and software program sciences, and to map instructions of analysis that may enjoy the mutual interplay of those fields. in reality, essentially the most vital result of the 1st EFISS Symposium was once the belief that the commonality of those sciences is way greater than simply the commonality in their gadgets of analysis, specifically, the examine of informative and prescriptive homes of texts in every kind of signal sys tems (such as common or man made languages). relatively, the main challeng ing difficulties seem to be within the parts within which either those sciences overlap, resembling, for example, the matter of trade-offs among informative and prescriptive makes use of of texts. This challenge might be formulated in accepted phrases as follows: given a definite type of motion or job which has been pre scribed to a few agent, i. e. that's required to be carried out or conducted, what sort of details will be supplied to the agent, in what shape, and the way may still or not it's allotted over the contextual constitution of the pre scriptive textual content to permit the agent to hold out the motion or job so much successfully and efficiently.

CONCLUSION Value of information has been discussed from such different aspects as type of literature (fictive vs. fact lit~rature), types of users (professional vs. "general interest" users), goals for the user of information (society's promotion of culture, end users' satisfaction of cognitive/ aesthetical needs), and information processing contexts (indexer, retriever). The key for the success of a retrieval system with cultural value perspective, is the development of a classification scheme for extra topical values, which results in a sufficient degree of consensus on the value perception of indexers and that of different groups of users.
