Sides of thorax striped yellow and metallic green, pruinescent, whitish grey below. Area of thorax between wings yellow, forming an indistinct stripe. Wings: clear. Pterostigmas: bicoloured, black and cream to light or dark brown. Abdomen: dull metallic green with fine yellow rings at start of each segment, and very fine yellow line dorsally along whole length.
Wings: clear becoming smoky with age. 8 mm long. Abdomen: triangular in cross-section. S1 black with orange spots. S2-10 bright red or pinkish red with black rings on each segment, and black with yellow spots underneath. Female: head and body pattern similar to male but brown instead of black.
